Henry County author P J Renfroe launched a series of fictional works with the release of her Black Valise espionage story in May. Last month she published the second book in the series -- the romance-flavored paranormal suspense novel under review here. The story focuses on the unethical research into paranomal phenomena funded by a super-rich businessman wishing to use psychic powers to gain world domination. The struggle between this evil man and the good guys involves weapons both normal and paranomral, making it more complex and more interesting than the typical crime thriller. And the romance which develops between Dani, the woman being victimized by the unethical researchers, and the hero, Anaomaly Expert Dr. Bowen Browne, is quite different from most romance scenarios.
Like her first book, this one is a highly imaginative creation and a good read. Information on the author and the Henry County writers group she founded is available at http://www.heritagewriters.com/. The next three works in Renfoe's series are expected to be published soon: Inbound Volume I (a collection of four science fiction short stories), Blue Andromeda (a spy novel), and The Magician and The Blue Witch.
